Whitening Toothpaste Can Help Prevent Dental Stains from Worsening

Posted .

If you were to look at the surfaces of your teeth under a powerful microscope you would likely see minute texture and pores in the tooth enamel. These areas can sometimes trap tiny dark particles that are introduced to your mouth when you consume certain foods, dark beverages, or use tobacco products.

If they are not removed from the surfaces of the teeth minor surface stains can start to saturate your tooth enamel. This can occur faster if your tooth enamel has suffered some demineralization related to poor oral hygiene practices.

At first, minor dental stains might be managed by periodically brushing your teeth with whitening toothpaste. The mild concentration of hydrogen peroxide used in these products can help resolve minor dental stains before they have a chance to saturate your tooth enamel to cause more significant dental stains.

Please note that you should always look for the American Dental Association’s Seal of Acceptance before using any brand of whitening toothpaste. The ADA’s logo can only be printed on oral hygiene products that have been researched and tested to meet vigorous guidelines.

If you have more significant dental stains on your teeth you will likely need Dr. Steven Freeman to professionally remove them with a dental bleaching treatment. This will safely and effectively whiten your tooth enamel without harming your mouth.

Once your white smile has been fully restored, you might want to try periodically using a whitening toothpaste to help prevent future dental stains from developing.

If you live in the St. Augustine, Florida, area and you are struggling to deal with stains on your teeth, you should call 904-201-4304 to schedule a whitening consultation with the staff specialists at Elite Smiles Dentistry’s clinic.
